Epidermal

  1. Well-defined border
  2. Dark brown colour
  3. Appears more obvious under black light
  4. Responds well to treatment

Dermal

  1. Ill-defined border
  2. Light brown or bluish in colour
  3. Unchanged under black light
  4. Responds poorly to treatment

Mixed

  1. The most common type
  2. Combination of bluish, light and dark brown patches
  3. Mixed pattern seen under black light
  4. Partial improvement with treatment
